Money For Dead Soldier's Families

I know it's been said before, but our troops are dying. The families are left devastated, both emotionally and economically. Now the government is going to give more money to those who have lost loved ones overseas. Any soldier killed in a "designated war zone" would qualify.
Of course, it was a Republican who authored the bill. The Dems are still too busy attacking Bush. Go here: http://cnn.netscape.cnn.com/news/story.jsp?flok=FF-APO-1152&idq=/ff/story/0001%2F20050201%2F0147770937.htm&sc=1152

Unfortunately, as noted in the article the Federal Government doesn't think the military killed in the attack on the Pentagon on 9/11 don't count. Strange.

"Under the administration's proposal, the 53 military members who were killed in the Sept. 11 attack on the Pentagon would not get the higher gratuity, a spokeswoman said."

That's weird to me. If our war losses are to be compensated, don't those that began the war qualify? Kind of like telling those killed on the USS Arizona on December 7, 1941 that they weren't part of World War 2.

I'll be back

I have a follow up. The Dems have asked that all soldiers get the benefit. This time I agree with them.
